Group Guidance

Some guidelines to try and improve the quality and safety of our group rides.....

Members

All riders must be reasonably fit. We ride as a group (except as in Ups and Downs below) so all should be capable of maintaining 12 mph (20 kph) over the duration of the ride.

Bikes

All bikes should be reasonably well maintained.

Start

Be at the start point in time for a prompt departure. If you are running a couple of minutes late then call ahead and let people know.

Ups

Ride up hills at your own pace. If you get to the top first, then check that we are all together. If not, then wait at the top for everyone to regroup.

Downs

Ride down hills at your own pace. If you get to the bottom first, then check that we are all together. If not, then ride slowly until everyone has caught up.

Stuff

Carry basic tools, a pump, and spare inner tube(s) in case they are needed. If someone has a mechanical or puncture then we all stop and assist.

Behave

Be courteous to other road users. Make it easier for them to pass when it is safe to do so. Always try to follow the rules of the road and the highway code.

Routes

Respect the chosen route. We ride it as a group. There might be an occasion when you have cut a ride short but otherwise we stick to the plan
